The Team

Responders are required to complete the CISM training program,
as well as regular group training and information gathering sessions.

Once trained, they are able to provide safe, collaborative, trauma informed
support strategies for community members that have faced a death or near-death incident and feel overwhelmed by their sense of
vulnerability and/or lack of control over the situation.

Those who are supported by the CISM team
are treated with respect, dignity and confidentiality.

The CISM team values and understands the necessity of community collaboration in prevention of and response to critical incidents.

We are committed to working in collaboration with the RCMP, Fire Departments, Island Health, and other community support organizations to ensure those who have experienced a death or near-death incident have barrier-free access to and information about appropriate resources.

Sincerest Thank You

In 2023, WCRS received the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust (CBT)
Vital Grants, which are designed to aid projects tackling
regional priorities and sustainability challenges within
the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Region.

The grant provided by CBT has played a crucial role in the
establishment of the CISM Team. We deeply appreciate
this generous support and collaborative effort, which has
enabled us to introduce valuable new services and resources
to benefit West Coast communities.
