Educational Workshop led by Certified Sexual Health Educator Hillary Mcleod.
Held at the WCRS Tofino office office. Light snacks and refreshments provided. Open to adults and youth 16+.
Consent culture is an active protest, which seeks to combat and dismantle the sexual violence and abuse perpetuated by rape culture. What is consent anyways? This workshop will explore definitions and experiences of consent to ultimately clarify what consent is and how it can change and grow within our relationships. Discussions will consider the role of consent in our everyday lives and explore ways in which we as individuals can participate in the continued creation of a culture of consent within our community. The intention of this workshop is to provide further education and support in normalizing consent within our community to ultimately inspire relationships built upon respect, communication, and safety.
Workshop Overview:
Note about Hillary’s teaching perspective:
“I teach from a trauma informed and sex positive perspective recognizing that consensual sexuality in all its diverse forms is a natural, healthy and enriching part of the human experience. My hope is to foster spaces of understanding and empathy, which promote curiosity and empower individuals to make decisions about and for their bodies that are right and healthy for them.”
*It is Hillary’s intention to make this a safe space for all attendees, noting a trigger warning as topics of sexual assault and abuse will be discussed*
