Westcoast Community Resources Society will be facilitating week-long training for local partners provided by the Justice Institute of BC.
Individuals will develop the practical skills of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) process in order to participate on a CISM team. Once this training is complete, a list of trained professionals will be established.
WCRS would be the organization to administer the call-out of the CISM team in a case of a death or near-death incident. Team members of various local organizations would commit to participate in a community of practice with a regional mandate to meet every four months regarding the teams’ progress.
This team would facilitate critical incident stress management and debriefing for all members of Ahousaht, Hesquiaht, Tla-O-Qui-Aht, Toquaht, Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ, Ucluelet, and Tofino when a death or near death occurs in our region.
This training event will take place at the Ucluelet Community Centre, 500 Matterson Drive, Ucluelet BC.
