Child and Youth with Support Needs

Empowering families to support their child’s
growth and development.

This program provides both one-on-one and group
opportunities for youth with support needs, ages 6 to 18,
to help them develop important skills.

Participants will engage in a wide range of activities designed to
build social and recreational abilities. These activities take place
in different settings, offering youth the chance to practice
interacting with others in various environments. By taking part in
fun and meaningful experiences, they will gain confidence,
improve communication skills, and develop friendships.

The program aims to create a supportive and inclusive space where every child can grow at their own pace, enjoy new experiences, and feel empowered to connect with others. Whether it’s through sports, games, arts, or group discussions, the goal is to help each youth build the skills they need to thrive both socially and in everyday life.

In the first few years of life, children grow and change quickly
in many ways, including physically, socially, emotionally, and
mentally. There are important milestones that can help
show if a child is developing at a normal pace.

It’s normal for parents to worry if they think their child is
not reaching these milestones. They may look for information
online, talk to others, or visit a doctor.

If you’re concerned that your child isn’t talking, walking, or behaving like expected, help is available. The sooner you get advice, the better. Many children just need some extra support to catch up.

This program is funded by the Province of British Columbia and requires
referral from the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
